night reflection BLOG 18

  1. REflect, think about this based upon the whole book and how Elie has grown from an innocent young boy to who is is at the young age of 15.
How do the people Elie interacts with strengthen or diminish his hope and desire to live? Talk about his father, Madame Schachter, Juliek (the violin player), the French girl, Rabbi Eliahou & his son, the Nazis. Which of their actions touched you the most? Find at least 2 people and explain his relationship and how that person has influenced Elie. ( 15 sentences)
  2. Tell one person in your life that has strength your hopes, faith, or desire of life. Who has influenced you the most, how does this person do that? Which of their actions touch you the most? ( 7sentence)

When I reflect back on the book, well in the chapters that I have read. I see how Elie changes. I think he is very mature at his age. I mean for a 15 year old young man. I think that the people that he has interacted with has effected him in many different ways . The way that he was treated by the SS soldiers and all the non-Jews, has strengthen him. Well that’s what I think. Elie and his father experience I believe brought them closer together. And they were there for each other even more to support each other when things got even rougher on them. They pulled through and were there through thick and thin no matter what happened.
I think that the one person who has had the biggest impact on my life is my mother. She has always encouraged me to be at my greatest. No matter how bad I've messed up she was there for me to help me through it. She tells me on a daily basis what I am capable of and I know what I am capable of. I’m very thankful to have a loving mother, like I do. She has never gave up on me. She believes in me and I’m thankful for it.

Since the beginning of the book elie has grown a lot. He has changed again and again. People he met in in his grim journey helped him and changed him. Since the age of 15 he is now adult wise because of his experiences .people had the most influence in his life and are the ones who have helped him so much as much as the ones who tortured him.
His father had the most influence of all. Since the bagging of the book he has bin with him for better and for worse. His fathers strength gave him strength and the fact that he lost every one except him father gave him lots of hope. His father changed him into a more stronger mature person. Madame Schechter gave a first view of what to come to elie it braced him for this sort of event and gave him more control during other similar events. Juliek made him realize that he could die just like him and that he is lucky to be alive. the French girl who helped him kind of stopped him from going crazy since this was the first gesture of kindness anyone has done for him. She made him feel human again. Rabbi elihou has always bin in a sense a figure of strength and his father son relation ship inspired elie and his dad. When his son died . Elie realized that fathers and sons are the same thing in the end, famished humans. It made him rethink about his father. out of every one in the story the SS is probably the ones who had the most influence on elie. The were the ones who at first took them to the camp they were the ones who separated them from there families they were the ones killing them torturing them and even keeping them alive. The also set the stage for the people he met and the whole experience he has bin thru. The two people who I think touched me the most was the Nazis, because of there cruelty and urge to kill. and his father for his extreme patience and love.
My girl friend is the one who influenced me the most in my life. Growing up I had a pretty normal life but no one has ever express love to me the she has. Before her I was a guy angry at the world and every one it because humans are greedy self centered basterds who only destroy and core only for themselves regardless of what they say. Other people whisper words of love and care to me, but it was just sounds being made by that organism to me. But she was different there is definitely something different about her that made rethink humanity her female element defiantly soothed me and changed me. Made me weak. thing that she said is I don’t need a reason to love you . This is still mysteries to me even now but it dose reminds me that not all people are evil.

1. His greatest influence would be his father who is currently the only connection that he has left of his past life. Tragically he has been separated from his other members of his family his mom and sister were both taken hopefully to another sight at the concentration camp when they first arrived, but another equally likely situation is that they were burned during the selection that Nazi made at arrival to the camp. This makes the father the most pivotal part of his survival, he gives several examples of how he stayed alive so that his father would have the will to keep going and to one day reach a liberation. This relationship has caused them to have dependency on each other. A dependency that helps the other survive and keep some of the Ideals that they had before the camp started. Elie’s father has shown that he still wants the best for Elie even though each necessity is a rare commodity that you could be punished for. On one occasion Elie has a gold crown on his tooth that he managed to keep after the an inspection because he claimed to be sick and removal of the crown would be to dangerous, later on a head officer saw the tooth and asked to trade for it. His father advised him to keep the crown and for that reason his father endures a harsh beating from the officer, unfortunately he still end up giving the crown this time for nothing. Another instance he trades piece of plastic that could be used as a sole to get an extra ration of bread for Elie. There has also been some instances in which Elie has kept his father alive trough rash thinking that would jeopardize his own life. The three most recent is when Elie decides to leave the infirmary still injured in hopes of not being separated from his father. The time that he started a commotion that allowed his father to slip trough to the side of the healthy -er prisoners and avoid what happened after slection. He has jumped to his father aid when they were about to take him off the train because they thought he was deceased Elie managed to wake him up by slapping him around violently. It is obvious that this relationship is not mimicked throughout the camp the Rabbi and his son and the incident on the train. In the rush to evacuate Buna the Rabbi lost his son, He looks avidly to find his son but fails to do so, Elie reveals to us that he saw the Rabbi’s son run ahead leaving his father behind as he began to slow. This instance has several possibilities one is that the son has left his father behind the other that delirious the son has left his father. If he left his father I like to think it was because in his mind he was dead and staying with him would result in his death as well. Elie promises himself that he would not do the same there for strengthening his will to stick with his father. In the train they are thrown bread that they fight over an old man manages to sneak away a piece of bread and manages to take a bite before some one jumps him beating him to steal the bread the old may says that the person that jumped him was his son and that does not deter him from stealing the bread and again the cycle continued. The Nazi’s have taken the humanity that resided within the people taken to the camps. Elie has lost his faith at the hands of the Nazi brutality and changed several people to become purely creatures of survival, as Elie puts it Just stomachs.
2. Every one to me is either a role model or a lesson. The role models influence me to strive to become better. The “lessons” I must learn from their mistakes in hopes of avoiding their paths they have taken. I consider myself a lesson because I have drowned some of the possibilities that have been presented to me that is why I am here. In my family there are a many role models each shaping me into the person that I want to be. My mom is role model in faith and devotion because she sees the good and the hand of God in all things. My grandmother and grandfather are role models in determination they had very little money and somehow raised 7 kids in a one bedroom house! Which of course my grandfather who was a builder remodeled to have four and in my life time he hired to build two more rooms. My Tio Humberto and his wife Tia Victoria, knowledge. My Tio Mickey and his wife Tia Mayra, heritage as well as a little of the dark geekyness that I use to write some of my stories. My Tio Pablo and his wife Tia Suzie, poetry and art . Tio Eduardo who sees the comedy of situation and looks at things with a light heat. The last are the Lessons the dark shadow s of my family My Tio Sergio and his ex wife Tia Mercedes who’s marriage was filled with turmoil and their lives now still are, and though he is a good person My father who comes and goes as he pleases. This my family, my support and, my motivation to which I owe my character.

When he was younger he was really innocent. When he got older he wasn’t so innocent anymore. What he saw at the camps made want live and try harder. It also helped him with his relationship with his dad. When he saw that the rabbi’s son had left the rabbi behind he prayed to god that he wouldn’t do that to his dad. When he saw that boy beat his father to death just so he can eat his bread made Ellie think about his dad. The SS was going to throw Ellie’s dad off the train but Ellie told them that he was still alive and revived him and they just left him alone. That was the thing that touched me the most. It was sad when Juliek died playing his violin. I also wonder what happened to the knife that Ellie’s dad gave to him. I also liked when Ellie ran after his dad at the selection. Because of what he did the father didn’t die. I think the worst thing they had to go through was running forty two miles without stopping. They didn’t even give them water, and the ones who couldn’t keep up were just shot.
I think my mom and dad give me hopes, faith, and desire of life. My dad has influenced me a lot. He does that by talking to me. He also tells me stories. My mom is the person that teaches me about god and tells me to go to church. The thng that touches me the most is that they work hard everyday without a day off so that we can have everything we need. I never told them this but that’s how I feel about them.

When I see how Eli has grow I think that normal because of what he has been through. When he used to be that innocent boy that prays every time and believes in god so much. But he has change when he past through all this horribly things that the SS soldiers done to all his people. He was seen the SS soldiers hit them and his father take him away from his mom and sister that made him get anger on him and on god because he says that god does not help them. I think the most thing that he made him not believe in god at all was when the SS soldiers were torturing that kid and every one was watching that. I think he has a lot of anger because he can not do anything to defend him and his people. I think the most thing that touch me the most was when he was trying to wake up his father that was almost dyeing in the ice and the SS soldiers were going to trough him with the rest of the died people and Eli didn’t wanted to live his father because his father is his only support to be alive. One of the people that has influence his life is his that because he has been with him all the moments. The second person is the guy that was on the hospital with him that told him that the SS soldier were going to kill all the people that was on the hospital and he decide to go with his father to be with him. Well I haven’t been in one position that a person will strength my faith but I think that my family will keep me alive of everything bad that will happen to me.

The two character that I see more interesting in the story are ELIE and his father. They both remind of how my dad and I were very closed to each other but since I grew to be a young adult things changed between us we wouldn’t agree in the same way that we used to. Elie and his father were really closed but it wasn’t them that they had to be separated they were forced to. I think that Elie would always look up for his father. What I also think is that is sad what been threw all the torture and all the pain that they have go threw to be able to survive I admired them for not giving up. That is something that a lot of people cant do and they give up to easily.

person that gives me strength and hope is my little brother because his the one that makes me days better. Even thought he is only 4 years old I learn a lot of thing from him like to show and give love to someone. The way that I get influenced is by him being a sweet boy. His is really playful and really loveable and active person that makes me want to be just like him. We are so closed to each other that I treat him like if he was to be my kid he gets spoiled by me I tried to give him everything that he asked me to buy him.

In the beginning of the book, Elie was a young innocent, curious, and very religious boy. He was very different from other people. He would rather sit at home to study his religion, rather than to play outside with the other kids. The holocaust changed his outlook on life. He spent years suffering from starvation and seeing nothing but death.
A few people helped him stay focused and kept him from going crazy. One person who is definitely a great help to him is his father. Elie’s father was able to stay with Elie and escape death so many times. His father and Elie gained a very close bond together. They help each other out all the time. They both are struggling to live together. If Elie’s father dies, Elie will probably give up and let himself die too because there would be no one to help him when he feels trapped or anyone to go to for advice. The Nazi’s, on the other hand. Make it hard for Elie to concentrate. The Nazi’s will punish any and all prisoners who get out of hand. They love to kill Jews for any type of reason. Elie has to be careful with everything he does. He has no freedom and lives everyday like its his last, and in fear.
Growing up, I ran into a few family members that showed me ways I shouldn’t go. I’ve heard and seen a lot of things that could have influenced me to be a bad person, but i saw past all that and thought of where I wanted to end up. I don’t want to end up like some of the family members I have, I want to be known as the one that actually made it out of high school and did something positive with my life. I’m actually happy that I was able to see the things I saw so I can say I experienced things that helped me be the person that I am today.

Man, Elie is 15 years old, everything that is going on changes or is going to affect him. When one is still a child everything around them has an impact on their future. I think that everything that has happened to Elie, or everything that he has experienced, watched, and has felt will affect him, he will be more mature and more understanding with people. Things that he saw, like the boy who left his father because he thought his dad wasn’t going to be able to survive was something that made him realize what people are willing to do under stress or just to survive. They don’t really care about anyone but themselves. Also the boy who killed his father for a piece of bread. He was also acting under stress, hunger, or better yet starvation. These events influenced Elie to be good to his father because he doesn’t want to do what these other kids did to their father. His relationship with his father is really close. They have a strong bond that is really hard to break.

Even thought Elie is only 15 years old he has been mature enough to handle and understand everything that has happened. The way that he gets strengths is by the things that he has been threw with his father

In the beginning Elie was a young boy he was all innocent. The people around him just make him stronger. He's growing up amongst a dying breed. It makes him stronger because he has to fight for stuff. He has to be good so he wont die. That is hard if you were in his position. He is going through a lot. So what he seen at the camps made him want to try harder. It also helped with his relationship between his dad. He seen what the rabbi’s son he prayed that that wont happen to him and his dad. The rabbi is one. And the other is when that kid beat his dad for food. He is stronger than that. The SS was going to throw his dad off the train but he told them that he was alive. And that’s how you know. One person in my life that has desired my strength or what ever is my grandma. She got me into believing in so much stuff. She got me into believing into God even though now I don’t but she still got me into it. And she encouraged me to do a lot of things. She gives me confidence. And she is always there for me.

2. I’ve always been happy to live but there are times when I just get fed up and tired. The only person who truly helps me through those times is my mother. I have open communication with her at all times. There is never a time that I hesitate to tell her what I’m feeling. She may not have all the algebra skills but she knows exactly what to say and when to say it. That fact I can say what it on my mind without feeling criticized is what helps. Yes, we are not the Brady Bunch, we do tend to argue at times but I never feel hate for her. If not for the times she yelled and lectured me, I would not be the person I am now. Not to sound cheesy, but yes, my mom is who keeps me going. Other people would probably answer this question by putting their boyfriends/girlfriends or best friend but I know from experience that no one comes before your blood.

I think that Elie has grown stronger when it comes to surviving. At first he was innocent because he was new to this devastating move. He now has a killer instinct on life, because he realizes that he must do what has to be done to stay alive. Elie’s father is the only family that he can go to. I think that they keep each other alive. They still manage to look out for one another. His father always gives up his ration for Elie. I think the way Elie sees’ how the Nazis treat the Jews makes him more determine to stay alive. He probably has so much hate for them, it keeps him alive. I really like how son and father kept their relationship pretty strong. Elie still looks out for his father even though he seems to be dieing slowly. My moms is my lifeline. My mom keeps me going, she's everything to me. The way she puts it down with work, supporting the family, makes me want to be just like her…successful.

I think that Eli has changed a lot. The reason why I think that is because he has been trough a lot. I mean he has experience many things. Eli has seen many people die everyday. I think that eli’s father has also changed a lot both of them went from very religious people to not carrying anymore. I think that is is sad how the Nazis changed so many people and the way that they are and think. I think that what Juliek the violin player was shocking. I mean he died playing his violin the thing he loved the most but he died in a sad way. He died of hunger and pain. I think one of the saddest things that anyone did in this book is what the Rabbis son did to him. How he just abandoned him and left him so he could survive himself. I think that what he did was very selfish. I know that if I would have been in his position I wouldn’t have done that to my own father. I think that this book is a very sad book. I think that the all the Jews that were in the camps were probably crazy when they got out of the camp.

At the begging of the story Eli was a very religious boy. All he did was study the Talmud. He was kind of innocent. He didn’t see any suffering around them. Before he would get mad if anyone did anything to his father. When he was in the camp a guy beat up his father and he only moved back. He was also mad at his dad for not staying quiet and for not doing what the guards tell them to do. Before he believed in his religion when he was in the camp he lost faith. Lost faith that everything will be ok. That he would never get out of there alive. i think that most of the SS officers are the ones that make him loose hope to live. I think this because they are the ones killing everyone. They are the ones treating them bad. The people that strengthen his desire to live is his dad. I think that he is the only reason why Eli has not given up. Well Eli’s father has always been there for him. He is always giving things up for Eli that just shows how strong the love is for his son. The Madame Schachter to me she kind of impressed me how she could have a premonition about what was going to happen. I also felt sorry for her because nobody believed her. Juliek he had a lot of hope I think because he didn’t stop playing his violin. He played as to soothe the rest of the Jews. One of the people is definitely his father. His relationship towards his father has gotten stronger. Now they look after each other . They help themselves survive. But I mean why wouldn’t they, they are the only thing they have left. They make sure the other stays alive while the other sleeps. Another person that influenced him was Juliek. At one point he helped him stay alive. He was kind of worried that he was dead. I think that what Juliek thought him was that he should be happy to be alive. That he was alive for a reason. The one person in my life that has influenced me that most is my mother. She is what keeps me strong and she gives me good advice. She is the only person I now will always love me unconditionally. I love her. She is very good person. She inspires me because she grew up with out a dad and she managed to be a good daughter. Most kids have problems growing up when they are missing a parent also she is very strong. I love the fact that she can be able to stand certain people. She thinks that everything happens for a reason so when some thing bad happens she doesn’t get mad she just accepts it and that is what I like about her.
