Auschwitz is a physical place-the site of the single largest mass murder in the history of humanity. More people died on that one single spot than the British and the Americans lost militarily in the course of the entire war.
We're looking at the killings on the eastern front. We're looking at the deportations across Europe. We're looking at the course of the war as it affected this place. It's a much bigger canvas. Auschwitz has a physical beginning in May 1940 and a physical end in January 1945. What happens in Auschwitz and the decisions made by people running Auschwitz actually mirror the bigger decisions which are being taken elsewhere.
Many people think they know the story of Auschwitz. It's the place where Jews were murdered. End of story. But for nearly the first year and a half of its operation, there were only a handful of Jews sent to Auschwitz. Its main purpose was to house Polish political prisoners and then Soviet prisoners of war. It had nothing to do with the mass extermination program.
What greater purpose can history have than to try and lead people toward a possible understanding of how this crime could ever have happened? Without an understanding of how it happened, you can't begin to look around the world and think why it might happen again.

Auschwitz was the largest place where there has been massive murders in the world. It’s a history that has only been discovered by archives in eastern Europe. The people were murdered in special killing spots. They called it the extermination of the Jews. They have a building that was especially for killing Jews. People would be scratching walls. Auschwitz wasn’t supposed to be a concentration camp, it was supposed to be a place to keep soldiers. In April 1940 there were very few Auschwitz houses, or bunkers. They weren't supposed to put the Jews there, they were supposed to put the people who the Germans considered a threat. Work makes you free is the logo that is on top of the gates before entering the Auschwitz camp. The Germans would hang some of the Jews by the arms, they would have the Jews hanging by their arms and put them behind them. The worst crime a prisoner could commit would be to take another prisoners food. Auschwitz was controlled with a lot of brutality. They wanted to expand the camp. The Nazi dream was the money they got would make another town, another Auschwitz. They took over a lot of stuff and they did what they had to do. Hitler wanted that to be his home away from home. He had his couches, his tables and his stuff at his home away from home. The Nazis believed that Hitler was always right and they had to listen to him. They thought that it would be legit if they would cause Jew starvation because they didn’t have enough money to feed or to buy food for the army that would be taking care of the Jews. They really planned to Starve the Jews. Even before the war began they started thinking about how they were going to start the extermination of the Jews. All Jews in the army were to be shot. All the Jews who were in the army that worked in the grasslands had to work in the gavel area. They started delusional about how the Jews were being corrupt and dirty and bad. They blamed them for bringing chaos, criminal acts and for being corrupt. They would encourage to locals to just walk up to the Jews and beat them up. Nazi soldiers started to target Jewish kids and women. Hans, SS soldier said he didn’t remember about how they killed the Jews but they could do whatever they wanted with the Jews. He didn’t feel nothing when he shot the Jews, he didn’t really care. Men women and children were ordered to strip . They would strip them and then they would make them stand in a line and just shoot them. The only thing he remembers thinking was, aim carefully. He didn’t have any feelings toward them. His feeling or hatred against them was too great. Hans came to think that the Jews had cheated him in his childhood. He knew the had nothing to do with the people that had cheated him but to them they were Jews. The killings went on to the evenings. They would kill so many killings. The first execution was the biggest one, there was three executions but the first one was the worst one. Hitler allowed that disabled Jewish kids would be killed. They would take them to a special place and then kill them. There were six places like this. The disabled were told they were going to take a shower, they had shower heads and they would take them in there and they would close the door, instead of having water come out of the shower heads there was poisonous gas. Carbon monoxide gas. Around 70,000 disabled people were killed this way. The first people to get killed by gas, weren't killed this way, they were sent to a gas chamber, they weren't killed because they were disabled but because they couldn’t work. They had a program called Nazi exterminization program. The Nazi officer would get mad because they had only killed a little amount of people, they wanted to kill many and fast. They were going to kill the Jews with carbon monoxide in bottles, but since it was very expensive they got a truck load of explosives. They experimented the explosives with the Jews. They tried another way of massive murder. They put people in a room locked with only a little pipe out connected to a car and a truck and would leave them on. They would die because of the carbon monoxide of the exhaust of the car. Block 11 was a place were people would get tortured or beat and or executed. Most Jews knew the reputation of block 11. Everyone was pretty much afraid of that place. Many people died, many were set free, thanks to the Russians.
The movie of auschwitz that I saw it say that the Nazis were making the why that the camps were going to look. the SS had to crated places for the prisoners to sleeps Only the SS were avelobled to open the doors of the camps. When they were going to turteded them they will grab there arms in the trees and pull them as much they wanted. One of the things that the Jews will not be able to do is crab someones else food. They took 3 million sovied prisoners and some were sent to concentraction camps. They were trying to tell that the Jews were curoption,bad and durty. what I think of all this things I saw was that all the Nazis people are the most bad people I ever know of my life how they will killed all thta inosent people without even care how they feel all the scared they most feel. All the things that the suffer was so sad because there was no body to protect them. Blueprints were hidden for decades before the original architect passed away. Hitler didn't want to change the camps, he wanted to improve the whole country. They planned to starve everyone. Many Jews were killed at random for all the propaganda. 10,00 Jews were gathered together and were in trouble. Jews were picked out at random to be executed. Many were shot dead. Separated men women and children. Officers thought nothing of the killings they did because it was their duty. The officers hated the Jews. The selected were sent to a spot and dig their graves. they were stripped and shot into the pits. Disabled were told that they were going to get shots. but instead they were sent to gas chambers. They were to take "showers" but gas comes out instead. 70,000 were killed by gas by 1941. Gas chambers got its idea from the exhaust pipes from cars. Officer Neighbor died in his car because he left his car on and the carbon dioxide killed him in his sleep. They later experimented it on the prisoners. Block 11 is the most feared because its a prison inside the prison. They get punished the most there. Prisoners try their best to avoid being put in there. Windows, doors, anything with cracks were covered up. Prisoners get locked into their rooms and starved. gas chokes them in their rooms.
All of these punishments were the most brutal kinds of punishments i've ever heard of. I can't really believe any of this happened. Everytime I hear stories like this, i'm always shocked. I'm disgusted by all the stuff they do. None of it is normal at all. They were all basically killing the Jews just because they lost a war. The Jews had nothing to do with it really, but I guess they don't want to look weak so they wipe out Jews. I hate that all of this happened, But without it happening, we would have never known that something like this could happen. History does sometimes happen to repeat itself, but im pretty sure something like this couldnt happen again. Something that had really surprised me in the video was the even the most innocent was were murdered by a a special "killing squad" The S.S also known as the Secret Soldiers.
The concentration camp was not meant to be use for "gas chambers", but to be a prison for prisoners. The concentration camp was made in 1940, which was able to hold 10,000 people, and after a little while it had expanded to 30,000 people. The Nazi occupation of poland was to be very deadly and known as very deadly. Aschwits kept the polish prisoners to keep the nazis from finishing their work, becasue they had went by this saying "work makes you free".
For further punishments they were hung from parts of there bodys and had to suffer. The worst crime to be commited while in prison is to take another prisoners food. Prisoners were killed in their sleep for doing such things.
Brutality was practice daily in the concentration camp. They had picked Auschwits to be the location for the camps because of the resources that had surrounded the area like water, lime, and coal which were the ingradients that they had needed most.

I think its dirty that they thought of so many ways to kill so many people. What surprised me was the showers that they supposedly had but they were used for monoxide gas to kill them. I feel like I’m thankful to live in the time I’m living in so far. Unless we get some sicko as president over here in the United States then no I don’t think history will repeat itself at least I hope not. But you never know maybe in another country.
What I had learn about the Auschwitz was that they have the largest place to lived. The way they lived was really closed to each other because their homes were to closed. This place used to be by itself it didn’t had that many houses. They were really secure by the ss they were the ones that were in charged of making sure that any prisoner wouldn’t tried to escape. They were really cruel to who ever tried to do something that they didn’t like.
Some of the prisoners were sometimes hang on hooks to be killed. Because of this they would lose their hopes with god they wouldn’t believe in him for permitting all the pain that they had to go threw. They would find ways to killed the people that stayed their but for them not to know they would do it in the way that they would not know. So they never had a chance to escape they might had have but they wouldn’t find out that this was going to happened to them.
In my opinion I ask my self why they would do something that had to do with torture and then feel pleased about what they had done. This people never thought that this could had been them dieing. I think that back in history things were really harmed then what they are at this presence because we don’t ever see this things in our country and when I seen this video I was shock how people would look they were very thin that at the same time they also look weak and palled. This is one of the main things that we don’t see that often maybe in some other places like Africa and other were thy don’t have food or clothes. But when you see things how they were before things are more appreciable everything that you have you feel that it has been blessed or even the people that protect us are not even closed similar to what we have in the u.s.

Auschwitz was a very cruel place that should have never bin built. What surprised me was that many of theses killers knew what they were doing but still went on with it. I find that very surprising. also the Jews never fought back.
I was disgusted by the way the killers killed with no mercy of regret and in a way …very impressed….but it is wrong even though it takes a lot of guts to do stuff like that. also the way the prisoners looked was very grotesque and it Made me feel bad for them. I feel like this is unjust and people should have stepped in sooner. I feel like this is every ones fault for not trying to stop it . I don’t think this will ever repeat itself. I think we learned our lesson the first time also the time we live in dose not have the ideas or potential for that kind of torture.

I think that what happened at all the concentration camps is wrong. A lot of people were killed. They didn’t even do anything. They were killed just for being Jewish. The movie that was on was boring and stupid. But the things that Hitler and SS solders Nazi did is messed up ruthless you know. The Nazi had different ways of killing the Jews like one of the ways was a GAS room that looked like a bathroom they took the Jews in there and the jews turned on the water but gas came out and they all died.
And the other way was starving all 3million Jews to death. And many were getting shoot some hug or blown up. In 1939 Hitler was order to kill all disable people over 70 thousand disable people were killed and gay fools. Also little kid and young women were getting killed to everybody was just getting their lives token away from them just like that Hitler was a evil man.
When I saw this video there were many thing going to trough my head. I mean Hitler did so many horrible things to the Jews. I mean he thought about different ways and things to torture the Jews with. I think that it is good that we are all learning about what happened. The reason why I think that is because if many people se this I think that they will think twice before doing something this bad and mean again.
Like in this video it shows how the Nazi were determined to get rid of as much Jews as they could. I mean they didn’t acre about nothing but to make them suffer. The video also shows how Auschwitz was meant for prisoners. Regular people were told lies about the Jews they would say that they were bad people so that way people wouldn’t be against what was happening. The people were also told to beat the Jews up and in the video there is a part were it shows how they would beat the people up with sticks. The Nazi didn’t even care who you were if you were important and had money they would still kill you and beat you up. They would kill communist rich people and torture them. The Nazi also killed gay people and disabled people. In 1939 Hitler order for all disabled people to get killed. They told them that they were going to get cured but they would lie. They would order them to go in a room to take a shower but they would put carbon dioxide and kill them. They killed over 70 thousand disabled people.
I think that all this is too sad I mean the way that Hitler did everything is horrible. I think that no one disserves to get killed the way the Jews would get killed. Not even if they were really bad people. I think that it is mest up that he would kill the people when they couldn’t work anymore. I think that all the soldiers were crazy because they would be satisfied when they would kill the people. I think that most of them were drug addicts because they were to crazy to be sober.
The movie that was presented to us on 3/02/07 was a movie on the creation and evolution of Auschwitz. Auschwitz was the site of the largest mass murder with over two million deaths. Only recently has the research on Auschwitz come to light. Along side with thoughts of conquering Auschwitz was created to enslave the populace. Auschwitz was built into a supremely efficient killing machine and evolved into concentration camps. Polish political prisoners were the first to circome to cruelty of Auschwitz. To first thoughts of the Nazis were to convert them into slaves. Many of the Nazi prisoners were subject to extreme beatings and other harsh punishment that led to the death of over half of the deaths.
The condition of Auschwitz were harsh as they became detached from the world. One of the men interviewed said that he felt little remorse or any thing when some died, it must have been common place at these camps. They planed Mass starvation to kill the captured prisoners of war. the opposing Red army. After all it was a war of inhalation.
In short segment that I watched it explained some of the mentality that the Nazi officers had. It often stated in the movie that they were scared of the Communist régime of Russia and thoughts that they views would topple what they had already accomplished. These set mentalities were started early in their life as thought of anti-Jewish propaganda was fed to them. The views included, the Jewish corruption which showed them as a plague on the world bringing chaos and destruction were ever they go, that because of the Jew’s Germany had lost the first world war, The there were connection between the Jew and Bolsavic all these thought were implanted into the minds of the German people which led to some massive activism against the Jews. The propaganda led to people taking upon themselves to punish the Jews and the Nazi encouraged them to raise against the Jews. The carbon dioxide were first experimented with the invalids people who were of no real use to the society and it is also they were introduce to the camps much later on.
The cruelty displayed in the camps forever left a dark scar on humanity as a whole it should not be taken likely and the memory of these people to be forgotten. It is by nature that their will be a new terror and monopolize society it will also cause massive death but hopefully it will be off put by the knowledge we have learned and hop fully get the problem at its source no ones rights should be abridged or neglected.
