chapter 4 night p. 72 blog 7

Although the prisoners are all so jaded by suffering that they never cry, they all break into tears as they watch the child strangle on the end of the noose.
Tell me why you think is so??
Eliezer comes to believe that a just God must not exist in a world where an innocent child can be hanged on the gallows. p. 72“Where is He?” Eliezer asks , and then answers, “He is hanging here on this gallows.”
Please intrpret this part of his narrative, what does it mean? What does this symbolize? How does it relate to him and his faith?
Because of this incident, what do you think will happen in the future, how do you think this will change him and his outlook toward life and the camps?
( 10 sentences)

Some of you are not giving me complete answers in your other BLOGs, make sure to answer all the questions and provide examples from the book( use quotations if you pull something from the story)! AGAIN, I will not give credit to those who do not complete their assignments!!

I think that when a child has to be the one to suffer , it would hurt the prisoners even more.I think that the quote means, by seeing the child get hung, he thinks that is no god and the child represent gods death. He is already living in hell as it is, so i think that he can only go to a better place, heaven. I think that he realizes that it cant get any better for him and his situation, so he might not care about life as much. He might jus be looking forward to going to heaven.

In this section of the book Night a young boy is hanged at the gallows for just being associated with a group of rebels in the concentration camp that were tried for cutting off the electricity and hording weapons. Many had gone to the gallows before but the torment they have endured has shut them off from their emotions so that they become unattached if a love one gets beaten or killed as seen in the last section of the book that was read as his father was beaten and Ellie didn’t even flinch. It is a form survival that keeps them from the intense emotional pain and allow them to keep working so that they not be beaten from slowing down production. They shed a tear for this boy because they saw a young innocent person killed for the actions and by the actions if others. This leads to more questioning of his faith and also to a response from Ellie that has several ways it can be interpreted because he dose not give a direct explanation and he is questioning his once strong faith it still unclear if he has fully lost his faith just yet. The more likely of the possibilities is that he has lost his faith and is cursing God for allowing such an unspeakable act to be committed. p. 72“Where is He?” Eliezer asks , and then answers, “He is hanging here on this gallows.” This is the line in the book that reveals his loss in faith or it still flickering light of faith. If he has lost his faith and is cursing God, the line means his religion was hanged along side the young boy’s dead body. Could God exist if such cruelty was committed in front of him? Is he really all powerful if such atrocities are happening? These two question best describe this statement if he has lost his faith. If he hasn't it would mean he is there with the boy ready to take him into his embracing arms. This is the lesser out come because he has been put trough a lot and he is still just a kid, who has faced more evil than I can even imagine.

The reason why the prisoners cry when they see the young boy being hanged is because they’ve seen so many people suffer that it hurts so much to see such a young innocent person suffer. Although they’ve seen people go into crematories, and get whipped, it still shocks them seeing a little boy being hanged and still surviving the hanging, but dying very slowly. Everyone is saying things such as “Where is God? Where is he now?” Elie says to himself “There he is now.” as he looks at the young boy struggling to survive on the rope. Elie is basically saying. ‘What kind of God would let a young boy have to go through what he is going through right now?’ or ‘Look what our God has done now.’ Elie is telling himself that he’s not going to praise the God he used to know anymore because he doesn’t see anything getting any better than it is. Everything is getting worse day by day. And each of those days going by, Elie is losing more faith in his god. Elie is starting to depend on himself to survive now. He is now realizing that he can no longer pray to be saved, he needs to do whatever he is to do to survive. The only chance he has of surviving is if the war is over and the Germans lose the war.

The prisoners didn’t go try to leave because they were scared. They were to afraid to even get something to eat. They were scared that they were going to get killed if they did anything. The SS ordered that anyone who is outside at this time should be terminated. I guess that is why they all stayed in there. I think that either way they are going to suffer. Also how are they going to know which way to go the concentration camps are so big. I also think that they wouldn’t know were to go if they did get out, their families were all separated. If they did get out there was no way for them to be able to survive and there is a war going on so they might get killed in one of the bombings. I think that when Eliezer says that “ he is hanging here on these gallows” it meant that God was right there that was what God had become. He was saying that if God really existed he would not have let this happen. I think for Eliezer the boy symbolizes that there is no God. Eliezer is losing faith. He doesn’t have God to depend on anymore. He doesn’t think that God will save them now. I think since this happened Eliezer will be a lot more careful with the things he do. And if anything happens to anyone else he wont care. I think that this will make him a very angry person. I think that he wont be so happy with life because he and many others there didn’t do anything to deserve to be treated like that.

Well they can believe how could people could be doing this things to them. See them being in their suffering and not crying at all makes the people that are watching cry seeing all this horrible thing they do to the innocent people. Well when Eli. saw that little boy hanging in that gallows he just ask where is god because he could not believe how god will permitted all this things could happen to someone so little and innocent. When that guys answer to Eli that there was god in my point of view I think he mean that god was in that little boy because he supports all the things they do to him. But in another way it could be that they say their god because finally god is going to take him to a better place where he is not going to suffer no more. The little boy is not going to stay in hell were the rest of the prisoners are. Know Eli is not going to believe in god that much he is going to think that god does not care what is happening to them he sees all this things that happen that know his faith is gone. I think people are going to get more scare because of what they saw that they are going to do exactly what the SS tell them to do. Eli is going to have more anger in his life that anything that happen to him he is not going to care.

In the feature I think that he will not get along with others in life because he's going to be think what happen to his parents. but that’s how his gong to be. that ant going to stop him from anything in his life. He does believe in a god. but he's just confused right now what's going on in his life right now. His think what are they going to do with him. Are they going to hang him or are they going to put him to sleep. He has already seen many people going throw that step In life with the Jews. He want to live a good life instead of now.

I think that the boy who was hanged will have a huge effect in the story. He will be a kid who made the difference to Elie. I think that when he said “Where is He? Here He is- He is hanging here on this gallows….” it was a premonition that he is not going to ever really recuperate his faith. He will not trust any religion anymore. I think they will not pray anymore, they already have in there minds that a kind of god who lets a little innocent kid isn't really much of a god anyone would like to have. Yet again you wouldn’t want to have a god anyways who would let millions of people even babies die, get burned and just tortured. Not many people felt when the other people died, when they hung them up, I don’t really understand why they didn’t just revolt, even thought the Germans did have weapons there were still more Jews than Germans and they would have been able to do something if they all would have stuck together and made an organized plan because the Germans wouldn’t be expecting something like that or they wouldn’t be able to beat so many Jews. The little kid was a soldier because just the simple fact that he didn’t say any names, he would rather take the blame, or not the blame but take the punishment. The little boy is a symbolic thing that will be brought back in the story. It is symbolic now because like I said and AJ, A real god wouldn’t let an innocent kid just die like that, maybe if it was a natural death but not a death were a kid gets tortured and killed, he was also a god cuz he stayed alive for about 30 minutes.

Eliezer doesn’t thing that god would let such a thing happen. He couldn’t believe that a little boy can be hanged with out god doing any thing to stop it from happening. He had to watch the Dutchman pipel hanging fro half an hour. The young boy struggled the hole time he still looked alive his tongue was still red and his eyes weren't glazed over. Every one watched tears droplets coming out of there eyes. Before that they didn’t remember what it felt to cry. Eliezer only gets stronger from ever thing that goes on in the camp. His faith only growing with in him self. The little boy getting hung symbolizes that they shouldn’t give up and that they should keep trying. That could have related with his faith tell him something that we wouldn’t understand. In the future I think that some of the prisoners will try to get free. Maybe he will see it as a sing that god sent him so that he could understand later on in life. I think that he will have a better more open mind and see thing’s more positive way.

Pg. 14 “I wiped because something inside me felt the need for tears”

Pg. 62 “ I have watched the whole thing without moving I kept quiet”

Pg. 14 “ I was twelve I believe profoundly “

Pg.53 “ I did not deny gods existence but I doubted his absence”

The following quotes show a ladder of change in the young boy eile. in the beginning of the book he is a young boy who would cry for no reason just because he felt like it. His only concern was getting a master. Later, he sees his own father get beat in the floor the little kid who cried for no reason dose not even move when his father gets beat this if a huge dramatic change in him.
He believes him self to be young a little boy he believes that profoundly and dose not worries about much. Then he begins to question the very existence of god. He starts to question the very purpose of his being there. he begins to see how unfair the world is.

He begins to get mad at his father because he doesn't know how to not anger the guards. he starts to become a mature man and starts to become harder and more mean the place and combination of fear anger and despair has made him a pathetic person.
A point in my life that I realized that I hit a turning point was when I first got a job. I realized that I have to grow up in taco bell, my first job. I new I had to grow up because I was working for money and I was dealing with customers of all sorts. I hade to be nice and polite to them all . This constant fear being fired kept me behaving soon it just came expected and I hade realized I grew up. It made me feel different like I was not myself no linger but I came to embrace this new lifestyle. Soon acting mature was just me. Want I did about that , is that when ever I act to mature Ill go play some video games and ill feel like a kid again.

What I think about this images is that they are living an unfair life specially with the young children that get hang on the gallows, that is one of the sadness things that I ever seen. The reason that I think that Eliezer losses his faith towards god because if he really existed none of this would have happened. In my opinion about this is that sometimes I lose my faith when I really need god to help me out like there's been times were I have been in a bad situation and I all I do is pray and when I see that my problem has been resolve I see that god was listening to what I was asking. This is something familiar to what Elizer is talking about the children that had been strangle. This is why he is loosing his faith towards what he believes. what I think that would happen in the future is that if he keeps seeing lots of pain in his life he would end up not believing his own self or others he would end up to believe what he sees not to what he wants to be prayed for. This would definitely changed him because all what he has been threw and everything that he is seeing is something to be changed for.

i think that this pictures have lots of meaning to it. The reason why I think that the people are crying is because no one wants to see someone suffer and specially the way that the little boy is suffering. I think that it is sad that they all have to see the kid go trough this. I mean the little boy looks really skinny. Besides the boy being really skinny you could tell that he has been trough a lot for his age. I think that this picture shows a lot of the things that went on in the holocaust are shown in this picture. The reason why I think that is because the people that were in concentration camps went trough hunger and not only that but humiliation as well. I mean this picture shows a little boy that is holding on to a poll so he wont die that is sad. There is another picture that amazes me the one with the soldier is shocking I mean the way that they would hang people is crazy. I think that most of the soldiers that were involve in this were on drugs. I mean who would be crazy enough to want to do so much harm to people that you don’t know nothing about. It sucks how much they wanted to humiliate the Jews, the way that the soldier is humiliating the people in the picture and he looks so proud of what he is doing to them and the people look so sad and so unhealthy.
